FAQ

What kind of video do I need?

You asked an important question and the answer is it depends on your objectives. Our happy place is diving into the deep end right alongside you and translating your objectives into the best approach for your goals. In that spirit, here are a few objectives we encounter out in the wild:

  • To build brand awareness: A Brand Anthem or Company Culture Video tells the What and the Why of all you do, to connect emotionally and build on (or reinforce) a spirit and personality your audience can identify with.
  • To explain a product/service: An Explainer or Product Demo uses clear visuals and voiceover to break down complex ideas.
  • To generate leads/sales: A Testimonial or Case Study demonstrates trust, showing potential customers how you can be valuable to them.
  • To onboard or train your team: Internal / Training Videos educate on essentials, keeping communication consistent with core values and brand identity.
  • For a specific event: An Event Recap or Live Broadcast captures the energy, emotion, and extends your event's reach beyond attendance.
  • For social media: Short-form (Snackable) Content like Instagram Reels or TikTok are suited for high engagement and quick impact.

How long should my video be?

Honestly? As long as it needs to be effective, and not a second longer. There is no magic number every audience will love, but your goals and the platform will be primary driving factors. For example:

  • Interruption Ads: 5-15 seconds. Viewers must be hooked immediately. Clever use of time pays dividends.
  • Website Homepage: 60-90 seconds. Quickly convey your core value proposition.
  • YouTube/Explainer Videos: 1-3 minutes. Allows for deeper storytelling and explanation.
  • Testimonials & Case Studies: 2-4 minutes. Gives enough time to establish a problem, solution, and result.
  • Internal/Training Videos: As long as necessary to convey the material without sacrificing retention. Highly exhaustive detail is best broken down into segments that are easy to digest.

How long does it take to make a video?

The timeline varies based on the project's complexity, but a general ballpark might look like:

  • Simple Social Media Ad (1-2 days of filming): 2-4 weeks
  • Corporate Explainer or Testimonial Video: 4-6 weeks
  • Large-Scale Commercial or Brand Film: 8-12+ weeks. This process includes three key phases:
  1. Pre-Production (Planning): Scripting, storyboarding, casting, and location scouting.
  2. Production (Filming): The actual shoot days.
  3. Post-Production (Editing): Assembly, color grading, sound design, and motion graphics. We provide a detailed project timeline at the start of every engagement to ensure we meet your deadlines.

How much does a video cost?

There are a few essential variables to consider before an answer can be given with any confidence, and it really depends on the objectives. So let's quickly break those down.

Objectives
  • What is the result you are seeking?
    • Increase specific product sales
    • Increase name recognition
    • Gain or reinforce your audience's trust
  • What objective factors will determine character and conditions of the physical production?
    • Where are we shooting?
      • Is it indoor, outdoor?
      • Midday, midnight?
      • Is the location owned, or will we need to scout options, facilitate permission, secure permits, negotiate usage fees, etc.?
    • Who (if anyone) is appearing on camera?
      • Will we need to plan a casting process?
      • Does the concept call for any special talent?
        • Stunt performers
        • Trained animals
        • Child actors
        • Celebrity host
      • Are specific demographic targets a consideration?
    • Is there already a script or treatment? If so:
      • How long and/or complex is it?
      • Is it fully locked or still under revision?
    • If a script or treatment doesn't exist, are we handling conceptual and creative development and/or writing?
      • Do you have a definite delivery date we need to target?
      • How collaborative a process is ideal for you (i.e. how much time can you commit to discovery, feedback, approvals)?

As you may have noticed, the variables to consider can be overwhelming when we begin to peel back some layers. That is what we’re here for! We want to make it easy on you; we take this process seriously and want to ensure the time and cost investment to meet your objective is securely and responsibly handled.

Isn't A.I. just as good as professional production now?

A.I. can offer fantastic support in certain creative tasks like generating ideas, rough storyboards, testing logic, and augmenting research. However, AI lacks any capacity for embodied senses: curiosity, emotional awareness, discernment, and cultural context. It severely underperforms (and overtaxes) wherever creative judgment comes into play. A few key factors make all the difference:

A.I. mimics patterns from the past. It can only assemble and reassemble what already exists.

Relevance is relational. We are sense-making social beings in 3D, fashioning our value judgments on lived experience, and quietly carrying them along to be shaped as we go. Imagine having to weigh, equally, every value judgment ever expressed, only to commit to whatever's selected when the process times out. In some senses, you might as well ask an 8-ball.

No stakes for mistakes. Another mammoth drawback to outsourcing intellectual energy is the loss of responsibility to be accountable. As helpful as Clippy (that antsy cartoon paperclip) might be, I can't fairly expect he'd ensure my story strikes chords with any richness in color or humanity.

Emotion is strategically future-proof. We craft a unique story for your specific audience to achieve your specific goal.
Professional production is all about finessing those heartstrings that only real, embodied human creativity can pluck, pull, or swell through a dynamic interplay of nuanced storytelling, high-quality cinematography, professional sound recording, and seasoned talent in the director's chair. An A.I. video might be cheap and fast, but professionally produced video is an investment that builds trust through truth, demonstrates quality, and delivers a measurable return.

How can I go viral?

While no one can guarantee a viral video, deep strategy and creative concepts sculpted for high shareability can get us in the ballpark. It takes clear focus on key ingredients for viral success:

  • Authentic Emotion: Does it make people laugh, feel inspired, or wowed?
  • Appropriate Production Value: For a planned stunt, popup or flashmob, professional quality lends grandeur to the focal point and immerses the viewer. On the other hand, "spontaneous" cell phone video suggests a fleeting, organic moment viewers can picture themselves experiencing in person.
  • Strong Storytelling: However simple, a compelling narrative is the single most essential element to strike a chord people will remember and want to share.
  • Concept Optimization: We tailor the strategy, format, length, and hook for the specific purpose, objectives, and platforms (TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
